Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 21, 2026

We wrote this in plain English on purpose. Learn with Hayden is a small reading, spelling, and math app for kids, and this page explains — without the legal fog — exactly what we collect, why, and who can see it. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@learnwithhayden.app and we'll explain.

Parents are in charge, always

Accounts are created and controlled by parents (or another grown-up in the family). Children never sign up and never create their own accounts. A parent signs in on the family's device, adds their kids, and the kids just play — they never see a sign-up screen.

How you give permission

Because Learn with Hayden is made for young children, the law asks us to make sure a parent — not a child — is giving permission before we collect anything about that child. So we build a permission step into signing up, and nothing about your child is collected until it's finished.

Here's how it works. When you sign up, we show you a plain-language summary of what we'll collect about your child and why. You then confirm that you're the child's parent or legal guardian and give your permission. To be sure that permission really came from a grown-up, we email you a 6-digit code and ask you to type it back. Only after you've entered that code can you add your child and start them playing — and only then do we begin collecting anything about them, whether their first name, their game progress, or their saved artwork.

You can withdraw your permission at any time — see “Your choices as a parent” below. If you withdraw it, we'll stop collecting anything further about your child and delete what we've already collected.

What we collect, and why

We only collect what the app actually needs to work. That's it.

  • Your email address — so you can sign in. We use email login codes instead of passwords: you type your email, we send you a code, you type it back. We also use your email to reach you about your account if we need to.
  • Your child's first name — so it can show up on the “who's playing?” screen and be read aloud in the games. A first name or nickname is all we ask for. We do not ask for your child's birthday, age, or last name to use the app.
  • Game progress — as your child plays, we save things like which levels they've done and how they're doing, so the games remember where they were and you can see how practice is going. Progress is saved to your account and syncs across your family's devices, so it's there whatever screen your child picks up.
  • Artwork your child makes — drawings from the drawing games are saved so they don't disappear, and so your child can see them again later. Like progress, saved artwork is stored with your account and syncs across your devices.
  • Your free trial and subscription — when you sign up, our payment processor handles your card details. We're told that your trial started, whether it converted to a paid subscription, and when it renews; we never see or store your full card number.

Getting started

Anyone can sign up. Learn with Hayden starts with a 5-day free trial: you create an account, complete the permission step described above, and then give us your card details. Your card isn't charged until day 5, and you can cancel before then. Adding your child and starting them playing happens after the permission step — see “How you give permission.”

Who can see your family's data

Your family's data is walled off from every other family. When you sign in, the app is built so you can only ever reach your own family's children, progress, and artwork — never anyone else's, and no other family can reach yours. Your child's artwork is stored privately and is only viewable through your signed-in account.

We never sell or share kids' data

We do not sell your family's data, and we never share anything about your child for advertising — not their name, not their progress, not their artwork, nothing. There are no ads inside Learn with Hayden, and once you sign in, there are no analytics tools, tracking pixels, or third-party trackers of any kind. The app simply doesn't have them.

One honest exception, and it lives entirely outside the app: our public website — the pages anyone can visit before signing in — uses a measurement tool from Meta (Facebook and Instagram's parent company) so we can tell whether the ads we run to reach other parents actually work. Here's what that means plainly: when you visit our public pages, that tool lets Meta know your browser was there, and whether the visit led to starting a trial. It never appears on any page your child uses, it never runs once you're signed in, and it never sees anything about your child. It measures our advertising to grown-ups; it has no window into your family's life in the app.

The companies that help us run the app

We're a small operation and we rely on a few trusted services to run — for hosting the app, storing its data, and sending email. Each one is contractually required to protect your family's information and to handle it only to run the app for us — never to advertise to your family, and never to sell it. Payments are handled by Stripe, so your card details go straight to them — we never see or store your full card number.

Staying signed in on your device

So your kids aren't asked to sign in every time, the app keeps you signed in on the device you used, and remembers small things on that device — like which levels are unlocked and whether game sounds are on. This lives on your own device. The app doesn't use cookies to follow your family around the web. The only measurement tool anywhere near Learn with Hayden is the one on our public website, described above — and it never runs inside the app.

Server logs

We don't collect IP addresses ourselves. Like almost every website, the companies that host the app (above) keep standard technical logs to keep things running and secure, and those logs can include information like IP addresses. That's ordinary infrastructure, not something we gather or use to profile your family.

How long we keep things

We keep your family's information only while your trial or subscription is active, and we don't hold onto it indefinitely. If you cancel during your free trial, we delete your family's information — so if there's a drawing you'd like to keep, download it before you go.

If you cancel a paid subscription, we keep your child's saved artwork for six months so you have time to download it — you'll still be able to sign in during that time to save the drawings, though the games won't be available. After six months the artwork is automatically deleted. If you'd rather not wait, just ask and we'll delete everything right away.

Two small exceptions. We keep a simple record of the permission you gave — when you gave it and what we showed you — for as long as we need it to show we asked properly. And when we delete something, it can take a little while to clear from our backups.

Keeping it safe

We protect your family's information with reasonable safeguards. Because progress and artwork sync between your devices, that information is encrypted while it travels and while it's stored, and access is walled off so your signed-in account reaches only your own family's data. No system is ever perfect, though — so if something ever went wrong with your family's information, we'd look into it straight away and tell you what happened.

Your choices as a parent

You can delete individual pieces of your child's artwork yourself from the grown-ups area. To have your whole family's data deleted — your account, your children, their progress, and their artwork — just email us at hello@learnwithhayden.app and we'll take care of it by hand. We'll confirm when it's done. As a parent you can also see what we've collected about your child, ask us to correct it, and tell us to stop collecting anything more at any time — just email us and we'll walk you through it. If you ask us to delete everything, we'll do it right away — you don't have to wait out the six-month window described above.

Changes to this policy

Learn with Hayden is still growing, so this policy may change. When it does, we'll update the date at the top. If we ever make a change that meaningfully affects your family's data, we'll do our best to tell you directly. And if a change means we'd use your child's information in a new way we didn't describe when you signed up, we'll ask your permission again before it applies to your family.

Questions? Email us any time at hello@learnwithhayden.app. We're happy to explain anything on this page in normal words.
